Woman struck by bat at 2007 game sues Pirates
A Greensburg woman who was hit in the head by a broken bat during a game at PNC Park in 2007 has sued the Pirates and Major League Baseball for negligence.

Donna Burk filed the lawsuit Friday in Allegheny County Common Pleas Court. She sued Hillerich & Bradsby Co., the bat's manufacturer.

In the lawsuit, Burk said she was sitting in section 119, behind the third-base dugout, when she was hit in the head with the barrel of a broken bat from former Pirates catcher Humberto Cota, who was batting.

Burk suffered multiple fractures in the area of her forehead, nose, sinus, eye socket and cheek, according to the lawsuit.
