--LHP Phil Dumatrait allowed four runs and six hits in four innings Friday night and did not get a decision in his first start of the season. Dumatrait had made 10 relief appearances before being moved into the rotation last Sunday when RHP Matt Morris was released. Dumatrait threw 66 pitches, nine short of his limit, and will likely be on a 90-pitch limit when he makes his next start next Thursday against San Francisco.
--LHP Damaso Marte pitched two perfect relief innings for the win. Since April 5, he has been scored on in just one of 12 appearances, giving up three earned runs in 13 1/3 innings for a 2.03 ERA in that span, while striking out 16 and holding opponents to a .170 batting average. --C Ryan Doumit continues to put a lock on the starting job as he was 3-for-5 with two RBIs. In his last 10 games, he is 16-for-37 (.432) with four doubles, three home runs, eight RBIs and 12 runs.
--LHP John Grabow bounced back after his first bad outing of the season by pitching a perfect seventh inning. Grabow gave up his first run of the season and took the loss in Thursday night's defeat in Washington.
--RHP Matt Capps pitched a scoreless ninth inning, though it was a non-save situation for the closer. He has made 11 straight scoreless appearances covering 12 innings.
