--LF Nyjer Morgan got his first day off of the season Thursday and was replaced in the leadoff spot by CF Nate McLouth, who went 1-for-3 with an RBI double and a walk. 

--OF Craig Monroe started in right field in place of Brandon Moss and went 0-for-4. 

The Pirates entered the season with only two regulars who had hit 20 home runs in a major league season, first baseman Adam LaRoche and center fielder Nate McLouth.
