The Mets defeated the Pirates Sunday afternoon 8-4, extending New Yorks winning streak to seven and send Pittsburgh to their eight straight loss. The Pirates appeared to be playing decently after 23 games with a 12-11 record. Theyve scored 21 runs and allowed 54. The Pirates are not losing close games. The Mets, on the other hand, scored 43 and allowed 20. Thats a little closer than the Pirates losses, but thats picking up as their last three wins were by at least four runs.
The Pirates dropped to last place in the NL Central, while the Mets jumped to first in the NL East.
